New Polzeath is a fantastic spot to explore for families and friends!

New Polzeath is a fantastic spot to explore this part of North Cornwall and surfers, paddle boarders, body
boarders will be first in the line up after a brisk jog down the hill and straight into the rolling waves. There are surf schools locally for beginners or advanced lessons.  For thosewho don’t wish to get wet, the wide variety of early morning coastal walks is a real treat. Polzeath’s golden sandy beaches are popular with families and children with rock-pools, vast expanses of sand and caves to explore. Walkers and wildlife enthusiasts will relish the abundance of habitats which can be found along the spectacular coastal paths just minutes from your door. Dolphins and sea birds aplenty can be spotted from high up on Pentire Point. A gentle stroll towards the village of Polzeath will reward you with several great
restaurants, bars and shopping opportunities and if you feel like something even closer the newly reopened
Doom Bar in New Polzeath can cater for most culinary and tipple tastes.

There are plenty of things to do around Polzeath. One of our all time favourite beaches are Lundy and Epphaven. Its either a 2 minute drive to the national trust car park, then a 15 minute walk to the beach, or an hour’s walk from the house with incredible views in from the headland.

The trick with this is to go at low tide. Its wild and rocky with lovely long sandy bay in low tide, and resembles a Dali painting, with its huge rock formations. We really love it, especially in the summer, we always swim here (and all the beaches). Its relatively quiet due to its remote location.

Short Drive: Another beautiful beach is Port Quin - around a 10min drive away, gorgeous little fishing bay, heaven for rock pools. You can do a lovely walk to Doyden castlefrom Port Quin. You only need to walk around 15 mins to get stunning views. We always find a little sheltered spot and take a winter picnic there. The longcross hotel near Port Quin is nice for a drink or cream tea, it has a tiny playground, great sea views and an absolutely gorgeous ornamental garden. The quintessential Port Isaac fishing village – featured in the Doc Marten TV series is great for lunch/tea and a wonderful stroll through the historic charming village.
The next bay down is Port Gavern - there is a great old pub there perfect for a meal or drinks.

The famous village Rock is a 10 minute drive away, we recommend the Rock Inn for a sun downer or drink. There are some good eateries such as the Blue Tomato. The walk to Rock passes Daymer bay in Trebertherick, an idyllic sheltered bay ideal for small children to play or for windsurfers. Its around a 45 minute walk to get there, with breathtaking views enroute.

Further afield is Bodmin Moor which is has the rare wild beauty that moors have to offer complete with wild horses. On the way there is one of our favourite lunch pubs is the one in St Mabyn, its cozy and atmospheric in the winter with the log fire and the food is great.

Padstow is a nice day out with its great variety of boutiques and restaurants. It is best to to drive to Rock and get the ferry across.

Wadebridge is a pleasant town 15 minute drive away. It has some chic little lunch sports and nice shops, including the Vine - greengrocers. Its a real place rather than tourist spot. The indian restaurant there is
highly recommended - The Raj.

If you want to buy some quality fresh ingredients, St Endellion farm shop is a great option. It has a lovely cafe with wonderful lunches/coffees, and a playground with lovely views across the countryside. There is a small holding of animals for children to see.

The beauty of the Polzeath Surf House is its location, if you don’t fancy getting into the car much there is plenty to do in Polzeath and within walking distance.
